  16.      _r_e_s_t_o_r_e is a privileged command that restores files from a backup made by
  17.      _t_a_r(1) or by _c_p_i_o(1).  _r_e_s_t_o_r_e is little more than a wrapper around
  18.      _c_p_i_o(1) so that privileged users can restore from backups.  The
  19.      _b_a_c_k_u_p(1M) privileged command uses _c_p_i_o(1) to create its backups.

  21.      _r_e_s_t_o_r_e can be run by ordinary users without going through _r_u_n_p_r_i_v(1M).
  22.      Ordinary users cannot write files in directories they don't have
  23.      permission to write, and they cannot overwrite files they don't have
  24.      permission to write.

  28.                typically a tape device such as /_d_e_v/_t_a_p_e or
  29.                _u_s_e_r@_r_e_m_o_t_e_h_o_s_t:/_d_e_v/_t_a_p_e, but can also be a _t_a_r(1) or _c_p_i_o(1)
  30.                file for backups to disk.

  32.      ----vvvv        Output of the restore is to be verbose.  Specifying ----vvvv to
  33.                _b_a_c_k_u_p causes vvvv to be included in the arguments to _c_p_i_o(1).

  35.      ----rrrr _r_o_o_t   Restore files relative to _r_o_o_t.  Normally, files are restored
  36.                to their original locations, which would overwrite any files of
  37.                the same name already there.  The ----rrrr option can be used to
  38.                restore files to an alternate location.  If the _t_a_r(1) or
  39.                _c_p_i_o(1) archive was created with absolute pathnames, this
  40.                option will have no effect.
